Polastron: Books on fire

Lucien X. Polastron: Books on fire: the destruction of libraries throughout history, Rochester, Vt. : Inner Traditions, 2007, 371 p.

Ismertető:
In his research into the history of paper, Paris-based historian Polastron often encountered the destruction of libraries, but the 1992 destruction of the National Library in Sarajevo provoked him to turn his attention to the phenomenon. His chapters look at examples from the papyrus region, Islam of the first days, Asia before the 20th century, and an embarrassment of modernity. Livres en feu was published in 2004 by Éditions Denoël.
